Project Overview
We started in mid September and by October work began on refactoring the website. To be fair, the 2024 team that started the website we took over were in college when they built it. I do not think they were able to devote the amount of vision and time it takes to deliver the level of quality we achieved this year. I was also fortunate to be teamed up with other talented developers who were inspired by each other and the work we were doing.
This year’s DevFest — hosted at MotorCity Casino Hotel on November 21-22, 2025 — aimed to deliver a full weekend of learning, networking, and hands-on workshops around AI, cloud, web, mobile, and more.
Behind the scenes, I contributed to several critical pieces of the conference’s infrastructure:
- Building and refining the site navigation
- Coded all logos into SVGs and optimized them for the web.
- This year they added a hackathon so I added the location layout, larger iframe maps
- Combined the volunteer sections into a single team section
- Working with another developer, I refactored his work on the speaker lineup, redesigning the card and modal layouts
- Combined sponsors and partner sections, replacing all the partner logos with SVGs
- Refactored the Sessions navigation, enabling a tablist design
- Ensuring responsive design, accessibility compliance, and a smooth user experience — even under tight event timelines.
Testimonial
“Thanks so much, Greg Miller — your work this year really stood out. The improvements in design, and overall usability were on another level, and it’s clear how much thought, care, and expertise you brought into the refinement process. I was genuinely impressed with the UI improvements and the overall polish throughout the site. You and the team elevated the experience in a big way — really incredible work.”
